Besides that, I've launched my ETSY store! Here is the link as well as a couple of items that are there. https://www.etsy.com/shop/OpenClothesOriginals At the moment it features my hand printed scarves and handmade oven mitts. Paintings are available by inquiry here or on my full site: http://openclothesoriginals.com
I am Diane Farris, sometimes known as Dianekamikaze. I express myself through a variety of media. I do a radio show on WFMU - check here for archives: http://wfmu.org/playlists/DK or listen on Thursdays Noon-3pm on wfmu.org. The work you see here may be motivated by music, maybe not! I am a retired tattoo artist, and after decades of drawing other people's ideas, I thought I'd like to see what came out of me when left to my own devices.

The Mark Of Zorro, or zipping into spring!
Some thoughts on Spring. First of all, is it really here?? This winter was so brutal, I'm tired of complaining about it. Lovely colors coming out, nice weather becoming the usual, not the exception. Here's a springy piece for you all!
Ah, water and color! This is titled The Mark Of Zorro, and it's a little spring, a little pizazz, and it sure feels like it's what I need right now! Fire away, bring on spring and get zippy outside!

Artwork Up In Jersey City this month!!!
I’ve got 6 paintings up in CITY HALL in Jersey City – in celebration of Women’s History Month. It’s a great show with some wonderful artists and works. City Hall is open until 5pm M-F and there are weekend hours, but I’m not sure what they are. Please check it out. Pieces are on the 2nd floor rotunda, a beautiful space. If the Main Session room is open (the heavy wooden doors in the center), try to check it out, there are wonderful stained glass windows and a full stained glass DOME in there that are just breathtaking! Here is the postcard for the show! The address is 280 Grove St., Jersey City NJ!

The Barn Theatre In Montville, NJ!
I have a few of my paintings hanging in the beautiful lobby at The Barn Theatre in Montville NJ! Thanks to Antionette, Lillian and Sal for connecting the dots! This is a wonderful theatre and kind of out of the way; I don't know if I ever would have found it on my own! The play they are presenting currently is The Master Class. Here is a piece called SOLID THOUGHTS. I am incorporating some stamping as well as watercolor and enjoying the effects; I hope you do too!! In the meantime, check out the Barn Theatre's website for their upcoming plays; they are at 32 Skyline Drive in Montville!

On Friday I just hung 24 paintings at Parlor Hair Studio in Montclair NJ. The opening celebration is this Friday, October 18th 6-9 pm, and it coincides with the Montclair Art Walk, so there'll be plenty of places to walk around and check out! Proceeds from commissions on paintings will go to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund. In honor of that, this piece is named Rainbow In The Dark, and you can see it in Montclair now! The work hangs until mid-November, so please stop by Parlor when you can!!! Their address is 223 Glenridge Ave., right next to the awesome bookstore!!

Hot Day, Sky Brush
Aaaaah! 90 degrees and other hot news! At my recent showing at The Fine Grind in Little Falls, two paintings were sold! They are chronicled here, so we can always visit Psychedelic Beatdown and Whale Outing virtually whenever we want, yay! I've had three pieces published in Catapult magazine, I've been busy. I'm also working on silk scarves! Nothing to post yet, as my technique leaves something to be desired, and I'm working on getting that skill level up right away!! Here's a piece called Sky Brush; it's one of my larger pieces. Sometimes the sky just seems like it's got oil dripping right out of it after the sun blinds you by simply opening your eyes...

Yummy Treats!
It's a repeat performance! Actually, the great folks at The Fine Grind in Little Falls, have extended the stay of my watercolor show there through May! They are at 101 Newark Pompton Turnpike (Rte 23) just south of the Willowbrook Mall, and are open til 10pm or later 7 days a week. Here's a piece that's hanging there now. It's called TREATS and is my first foray into using
rubber stamps in decades. I used to use them in my work
constantly when I was at Rutgers, and thought I'd give it
another shot! And it's the perfect piece to show in mentioning
the Fine Grind, because they do have some yummy treats!
I went there last week with my nieces Carla and Sara, and we
had hot chocolate and sampled some wonderful flavored
biscotti and tollhouse pie!
